Microgaming launches "most ambitious slot" to date
Based on science-fiction drama television series Battlestar Galactica, more than 100 of Microgaming's customers and 160 brands due to take game via Quickfire platform.

Microgaming has today launched Battlestar Galactica, its most ambitious video slot game to date, the supplier’s head of casino has told eGaming Review this morning.
Based on the science-fiction drama television series, more than 100 of Microgaming’s customers and 160 brands are due to take the game via its Quickfire open games platform, Mike Hebdon told eGR.
The agreement between the software supplier and NBC Universal Television was signed at the beginning of this year with Micro’s team of developers and artists working on the game for close to 12 months.
Initially available in Flash and download the game has a number of features that are “unavailable elsewhere”, according to Hebdon. New features include an achievement ranking system which unlocks further content for the player as they move through the game. The slot also features different modes including ‘run’, when the enemy Cylons discover your presence, and ‘fight’ where combat between you and your team and the robots begins.
Hebdon told eGR that the game aims to “re-capture the excitement of the television series” that had 14.3 million viewers worldwide at its peak. The game also has a loyal following of more than 15 million players via its online, multi-player role-play game.
Hebdon said the company would showcase the game alongside an array of other new branded and in-house developed slot content at the ICE exhibition in early February next year, adding that he was unable to disclose any further information ahead of the show.
Mobile will be another core focus at ICE, he added, with an “aggressive HTML 5 strategy” in the pipeline. The supplier, under its new division Microgaming Go, currently has 25 HTML 5 games out in the market and plans to release two every month.
There are no immediate plans for Battlestar Galactica to move to the mobile and tablet environment, however Hebdon hinted this would happen “as soon as possible”.
Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, said: “Our portfolio of branded games has been strengthened considerably by the addition of Battlestar Galactica. [The game] provides an ideal theme for us to create an online slot game “ and we are extremely excited about the launch. With superior graphics and a host innovative features, we are confident that we have created a great gaming experience reflective of the iconic nature of the brand.”
