Optimove iGaming Pulse Report: Average sports deposits up 8% MoM amid Euro 2020
In a monthly column, Optimove looks at how casino and sports KPIs performed in June
In June, the UEFA Euro 2020 Championship took place and presented an ample opportunity for football (soccer) fans across the globe to engage and bet in a month-long series of matches.
NBA matches were also taking place in full swing – providing plenty of earning opportunities for thrill-seeking online sports bettors.
Let’s see how the following KPIs in the online sports and casino sectors performed.
Sports KPIs
Monthly deposits
The average number of monthly deposits for sports bettors decreased by 11% MoM and remained the same YoY, now standing at nine monthly deposits per player.
Though the Euro championships are one of the most prominent online betting activities worldwide, many new and less active players join various online gaming operators for the first time or resume their gaming activity at this time. Therefore, they deposit and bet less than more valuable and seasoned players.
In Germany, we can see the average number of monthly deposits for sports bettors decrease by 22% MoM and by 36% YoY, currently standing at 5.8 deposits per player.
Monthly net gaming revenue per player
There has been a decrease of 6% MoM in average revenue per active player during June and an increase of 14% YoY, now standing at €89 per player.
On the other side of the pond, there has been an increase of 16% MoM and 22% YoY in the US, now standing at €134 per player.
Average deposit amount
The average deposit amount for sports players increased by 8% MoM and by 20% YoY, now standing at €42.
Retention rates
Retention rates for sports bettors have decreased by 3% MoM and by 7% YoY, now standing at 63%.
New retention rates
New retention rates have decreased by 8% MoM and by 17% YoY, now standing at 34%.
Conversion rates
Conversion rates decreased by 2% MoM and increased by 2% YoY, now standing at 44%.
Number of activity days
This month, the number of activity days decreased by 5% MoM and increased by 12% YoY, now standing at 7.7.
Mobile bet rate
For this report, this KPI is defined as the total mobile bet amount during June, divided by the total bet amount. Looking at the data, the rate increased by 9% MoM and by 20% YoY, now standing at 73%.
Casino KPIs
Average deposit amount
The average deposit amount for casino players decreased by 5% MoM and increased by 15% YoY, now standing at €39.
Monthly deposit per player
The average number of monthly deposits per player in June decreased by 8% MoM and increased by 7% YoY, now standing at 9.7 deposits per player.
Monthly revenue
The average net gaming revenue per active player decreased by 8% MoM and increased by 6% YoY, now standing at €91.
Conversion rates
Conversion rates decreased by 2% MoM and remained the same YoY, now standing at 41%.
Retention rates
Retention rates have increased by 2% MoM and by 3% YoY, now standing at 67%.
New retention rates
New retention rates decreased by 6% MoM and by 8% YoY, now standing at 33%.
Number of activity days
The number of activity days decreased by 3% MoM and increased by 17% YoY, now standing at 7.
