Slots Tracker: NetEnt soars into top spot of new-look EGR rankings
Starburst takes gold medal position as Pragmatic Play and NetEnt dominate top 20 with new methodology put in place

EGR Technology’s newly expanded slots rankings yielded significant shifts in January as Play’n GO was ousted as the top title after a seven-month reign.
The rankings, provided by EGR’s new data partner, eGaming Monitor (EGM), saw NetEnt’s Starburst leap into first place and Play’n GO’s Book of Dead slip to fourth in a major shake-up.
Pragmatic Play pair Sweet Bonanza and Big Bass Bonanza jumped up to second and third, respectively, with the supplier continuing to dominate the top 20.
Including the duo in the medal positions, Pragmatic Play had six titles nestled in the top 20 for January, including Big Bass Splash in fifth and Gates of Olympus in 10th.
January’s highest climber was Fortune Factory Studios’ Gold Blitz, which soared from 126th in December to finish in 15th place in January.
NetEnt’s Fruit Shop Megaways jumped from 20th to sixth place as the studio tails Pragmatic Play for the most titles in the rankings with five.
Gameburger Studios’ 9 Masks of Fire, previously in 16th, was the highest-ranking title from December to fall out of the rankings.
Elsewhere, EGM also detailed the top-ranking new slots released since November 2022.
Fortune Factory Studios’ Gold Blitz finished in the top spot for new games following its 20 December release.
Play’n GO’s Rise of Olympus 100 (10 November release) and Bison Moon by Northern Lights Gaming (9 January release) took the silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the new games rankings.
The game with the latest release date to secure a spot in the top 20 was Trojan Kingdom by Just For The Win (18 January) after finishing in 15th place.
Pragmatic Play’s Mammoth Gold Megaways was also released on 18 January and finished in 16th place.
EGM tracks game pages of more than 2,400 casino sites globally, with the European charts being based on the number of game tiles found for each game across operator sites in regulated markets.
EGM limits its tracking to just the main casino homepage of each site with the tracker taking in slots, instants, scratch cards, slingo and crash games but excluding table games, live games, video poker, video bingo and others.
In January, EGM tracked 10,928 games from 324 studios in 23 European regulated markets including the UK, Italy, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands.
