32Red quits online poker vertical
Operator’s poker room will close permanently on 19 May in conjunction with Microgaming Poker Network shutdown

32Red will cease its online poker operations on 19 May following the closure of the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN).
The Kindred-owned casino operator is one of 16 skins on the MPN, which Microgaming announced would close for good back in September 2019.
While many former MPN clients have made the switch to the iPoker Network, 32Red has decided to shelve the vertical altogether.
32Red customers received an email this week informing them that the poker room will be closing permanently.
The email read: “We regret to announce that 32Red Poker will be closing down on 19 May, when the Microgaming Poker Network closes. Please note that you will still be able to continue logging into your account, accessing banking and playing our casino games at 32Red.com after 19 May.”
The email pointed customers towards the Unibet brand if they wished to continue playing online poker.
“Looking ahead, we recommend Unibet, our sister brand, who will ensure 32Red Poker players get the warm welcome they deserve,” the statement continued.
Both sites fall under the Kindred Group, which purchased 32Red for just over £175m in February 2017.
The firm holds several football club sponsorships including Glasgow Rangers, Derby County and Leeds United.
Elsewhere, former MPN partner Grosvenor Poker has found a new home with iPoker Network, alongside the likes of Betfair, bet365 and William Hill.
Grosvenor also emailed its customer base to inform the migration would happen automatically, while users will only be required to change their alias.
Poker operators have enjoyed a sharp uptick in activity amid Covid-19 lockdowns as players flock to private games with friends and live events transition online.
