888 to downsize Israel office
Sections of the operator’s Herzliya-based research, development and IT teams will move to Bucharest to improve organisational efficiencies

London-listed gambling firm 888 is expected to announce job losses in Israel as the operator transitions a number of roles to its Romanian office.
EGR Intel understands that significant parts of 888’s Herzliya-based research and development team will move to Bucharest as part of a strategy to improve organisational efficiency.
The operator is keen to expand its global presence by building on its 200-person Bucharest office, although its core technology hub will remain in Israel, where key business decisions will be made.
Israeli tech publication Calcalistech reports that around 45 employees will be let go as a result of the restructuring, but 888 decline to comment on the level of job losses as the consultation process is still ongoing.
An 888 spokesperson told EGR: “888 intends to expand its Romanian development site supporting the group’s continued global growth strategy.
“As part of this initiative, certain positions will be transitioned from Israel to Bucharest.
“888’s renowned technology hub will remain in Herzliya in Israel, which has been the bedrock of the company since its inception in 1997.
“This move will enable the group to continue to invest in and develop its propriety technology and proposition over the coming years.”
