Liverpool FC striker joins 888 as ambassador of poker brand ahead of key World Cup period

888poker announced Liverpool and Uruguay international footballer Luis Suarez has become its global brand ambassador in time for a big push during the FIFA World Cup.
The deal will see the Barclay’s Premier League’s top goal scorer for the 2013/2014 season lead various branding initiatives during the tournament, while 888poker players will also have the opportunity to compete against Suarez via online tournaments.
He was officially unveiled at a press conference in Barcelona this morning and 888’s head of B2C Itai Pazner said the operator was pleased to sign up one of the world’s best footballers.
“He’s one of the most fascinating players in world”¦ and he’s passionate about everything he does,” he said.
“There’s not much we can teach him about football but we can definitely teach him some poker tips,” Pazner added.
Last year Suarez won numerous individual awards including the 2014 Professional Footballers Association ‘Player of the Year’ after bagging 31 goals for the Premier League runners-up.
He is also Uruguay’s all-time top goal scorer and joins existing 888Poker brand ambassadors including former cricketer Shane Warne and kick-boxer Georges St-Pierre.
