AGA to appoint new CEO next week
Board of directors meeting set for 17 April to vote on hiring of US Travel Association COO

The American Gaming Association (AGA) is expected to appoint US Travel Association COO Geoff Freeman as the lobby group’s new CEO at a board of directors meeting next week.
Four candidates are in the running following a search process conducted by recruitment company Korn/Ferry International, but Freeman is the favourite to be appointed on Wednesday, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. eGaming Review is yet to confirm the identity of the three other applicants for the role.
Freeman oversees all operations at the US Travel Association and has often made appearances in the media, as well as testifying before Congress, on the subject of national issues related to travel.
If appointed, Freeman will replace outgoing CEO and president Frank Fahrenkopf, who announced he would step down from the AGA on 30 June, after which he will be retained as a consultant. He has been the first and only chief executive of the lobbying organisation since its inception in 1995, earning an annual salary of US$4m for his efforts.
The AGA has objected to PokerStars’ application to be licensed and acquire the Atlantic Club casino in New Jersey, accusing the operator of “systematically flouting US law”.
A motion to debate the AGA’s petition against Stars was removed from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) agenda at last month’s meeting, while Ifrah Law has filed a response countering the association’s argument.
