Akamon unveils company shake-up
Social casino operator opens new Israeli games studio and hires new chief product officer

Social casino developer and publisher Akamon has announced a wave of company changes with the launch of an Israeli games studio and new chief product officer to lead its mobile charge.
The Southern Europe and Latin America-facing company’s new office in Tel Aviv becomes its third game studio in addition to its operations in Barcelona and Valencia.
The new studio of 10 staff members will be led the company’s Israel head of studio Zvika Alon, previously head of product at 888.com, who will report to Akamon’s new chief product officer.
Former Quickspin head of game design Alex Cohen was been appointed to oversee the company’s entire portfolio of games and platforms with a focus on increasing its presence on mobile.
“Joining Akamon, with its unparalleled geographical footprint in Latin America and already large customer base is an exciting new challenge given the tremendous growth in these markets,” Cohen said.
Cohen previously spent six years as a games designer at International Game Technology (IGT) and has led Quickpin’s design team since May 2011.
He will report directly to Akamon CEO Vicenç Martà who described the news as the “most profound changes” at company to date. “[We are] fortunate to bring people of the caliver of Alex Cohen and Zvika Alon into the Akamon family,” he said.
