Aspire freezes Swedish sites amid self-exclusion failings
Genesis Global, Tipwin and Lottoland also named in list of operators not yet connected to Spelpaus

Aspire Global has temporarily closed its Sweden–facing sites as it investigates why it has been unable to connect to the Swedish national self-exclusion scheme (Spelpaus).
According to Swedish news outlet Breakit, Aspire is one of four operators that has failed to integrate the self-exclusion register, which had 10,000 sign ups in the first week.
Speaking to Breakit, Aspire Global COO, Dima Reiderman, said the operator was working to fix the issue and in the interim would retrieve player data from the Spelpause database and manually block relevant players.
“We will close the account and give the money back,” Reiderman said.
An Aspire Global spokesperson told EGR the firm was “handling the matter in a serious manner”.
Lottoland, Genesis Global and Tipwin have also been named as not having connected to the Spelpaus register, despite being live in Sweden and therefore potentially allowing self-excluded players to gamble.
On Tuesday, the regulator confirmed it had sent letters to Aspire Global and Genesis Global, asking them to provide an explanation of why they had failed to connect to the register.
Spelinspektionen said that “measures will be taken” if the problem is not resolved within a timely manner.
According to the Swedish Gambling Act, if a licence holder is not connected to the self-exclusion register, it cannot provide gambling at all in Sweden.
In the case of a company failing to comply with the law a number of sanctions, including injunctions, penalties and fines could be issued by the regulator.
The regulator told EGR it had not yet decided which sanctions might apply.
