
Betfair lands title rights for the Campeonato Carioca
Operator to lend its name to regional football tournament as it strengthens commercial presence in Latam


Betfair has secured the naming rights for this year’s Brazilian Campeonato Carioca as the exchange reaffirms its commitment to commercial football opportunities in Latam.
The tournament, Cariocão Betfair 2022, will see teams from the state of Rio de Janeiro compete against each other including major clubs such as Flamengo and Fluminense.
Under the remit of the agreement, Betfair branding will appear on pitch-side advertising, as well as on the trophy and medals awarded to the champions.
Betfair branding will also feature on the competition’s official ball.
The deal was negotiated by agency SportsView, which holds the marketing rights for the Campeonato Carioca.
Kimberley Daly, Betfair marketing director, said: “The Carioca Championship is one of the most exciting in the country and has a national reach.
“This partnership reaffirms Betfair’s investments in Brazilian football and will offer fans not only a lot of excitement in each round, but also the best sports betting experience on the market,” she added.
Betfair has been a sponsor of the continent-wide Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana tournaments since 2019, with this deal further expanding its presence throughout Brazilian football.
Elsewhere, 1xBet has agreed a host of official betting partnerships with 13 domestic Brazilian football competitions.
