Betfair in Cypriot football shirt sponsorship
Extension of deal with top-division team Apollon Limassol initially lasts until the end of the season.
Betfair has agreed a deal to sponsor the matchday shirts of Cypriot First Division team Apollon Limassol.
The deal, an extension of the operator’s existing relationship with the club, will last until the end of the 2011-12 season with an option to extend it for a further year.
Betfair’s agreement with the club also covers branding within its Tsiron Stadium and club website, while Apollon players and staff may be asked by the betting exchange to appear in its marketing material and promotions.
Apollon, which has won the Cypriot title three times in its history, is the second club to be sponsored by Betfair in recent months after German fourth-division side Türkiyemspor.
Teemu Lehtinen, Betfair’s representative for Cyprus and Greece, said: “This deal is a clear statement of our intent when it comes to investing in Cypriot sport for the long term. We’re determined to play a proactive and responsible role in Cyprus going forward, with investment in local sport playing a big part in that.”
