Betfair promotes Mark Brooker to executive director
Chief operating officer will be handed additional executive responsibilities from 1 June

Betfair has announced chief operating officer Mark Brooker (pictured) will join the board from 1 June after he was promoted to the position of executive director.
In a statement released to the market this morning, the operator said Brooker, who joined the company in March 2010, will continue as COO of Betfair and remain based at the company’s Dublin office but will be tasked with additional executive responsibilities.
The appointment means Brooker will join chairman Gerald Corbett, chief executive Breon Corcoran, chief financial officer Alexander Gersh and a number of independent directors and non-executive directors on the board of the PLC.
Brooker first joined Betfair as corporate development director, a position he held for almost three years before becoming managing director of the operator’s sportsbook division.
In April 2014 Brooker was promoted to his current role and has led the firm’s drive to further integrate its sportsbook with its flagship exchange product while also focusing on the development of new products.
Prior to joining Betfair Brooker worked in the investment banking sector, which included long-term stints at Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch where he held corporate broking roles as managing director and director respectively.
