Betfred extends partnership with English Rugby League
British bookmaker signs two-year extension to current sponsorship deal and continues to serve as main partner of England’s men’s, women’s and wheelchair national teams

Salford-born high street bookmaker Betfred has successfully expanded its agreement with the English Rugby League to continue as the main partner of England’s men’s, women’s and wheelchair national teams for a further two-year term.
The renewed partnership will come into effect on 18 June, just in time for the faceoff between England’s men and the Combined Nation All Stars, which will take place at the Halliwell Jones stadium in Warrington. On the same day, England’s women will take on France, while England’s wheelchair team will also face the French the following day at the Manchester Basketball Centre.
Notably, the extension to Betfred’s existing deal will see the British company continue to partner England for the 2022 Rugby League World Cup. The tournament – which will take place at stadiums across the UK from 15 October to 19 November – is one of the most significant events on the international rugby calendar and will be viewed by an audience of millions worldwide.
Having supported the sport since 2017, when the company served as the title sponsor of the Super League, Betfred has grown its investment in professional rugby over the years and now has agreements with the Championship, League 1 and the Women’s Super League as well as the English sides.
Betfred owner Fred Done said he was proud of how far the partnership had come: “Rugby League is such an inclusive sport and it’s a great honour for us to be involved at all levels as we look forward to the country getting behind England Rugby League.”
Ralph Rimmer, CEO of the Rugby Football League, called Betfred an “outstanding sponsor” and said he was glad to be able to continue working with the operator: “They’re a proud English company with roots in the North. Let’s hope we can celebrate the partnership with England teams reaching all three World Cup Finals in Manchester on the weekend of 18-19 November.”
