Betfred secures Super League title sponsorship deal
UK bookmaker will sponsor rugby league's premier club competition for the next three years

Betfred has signed a three-year deal to become the new title sponsor of rugby league’s Super League competition in a major marketing scoop for the UK bookmaker.
The agreement will see Betfred replace UK gas and electricity supplier, First Utility, as the headline sponsor of rugby league’s prestigious professional club competition from 2017 until 2019.
“Next year will be Betfred’s 50th birthday and what better way to celebrate than by becoming title sponsor of the Betfred Super League,” the bookmaker’s owner and co-founder, Fred Done, said.
“I truly believe that we are a perfect fit for Super League where we will hope to match the real passion displayed by the fans, players, media partners and everyone involved throughout the Rugby League.”
The Super League is watch by an estimated two million people each year and as part of the deal, Betfred will also gain exposure across Sky Sports, BBC, BBC 5Live Radio and talkSPORT.
“Betfred is a well-recognised household name and I am delighted to welcome them to the sport as the new title sponsors of the Betfred Super League,” Super League CEO, Nigel Wood, said.
“I have met with owner Fred Done, who is passionate about Rugby League and we look forward to working closely with him, everyone at Betfred and our member clubs to continue to increase the visibility of our sport over the next three years.”
The Super League is the latest in a number of sponsorship agreements signed by Betfred this year, including deals with the SPFL as the new sponsor of the Scottish League Cup and an extension of its sponsorship of snooker’s World Championship.
