Betfred appoints new digital marketing head
James Shaw promoted from head of retention role following the departure of Tim Pindar

Betfred has promoted James Shaw to the role of head of digital marketing as the operator continues to revamp its online management team, eGaming Review can reveal.
Warrington-based Shaw, previously the operator’s head of retention, started his new role earlier this month and succeeds Tim Pindar who recently left the company.
As well as retaining responsibility for CRM, VIPs and social media, Shaw will also take on the management of Betfred’s acquisition and retention P&L, pay-per-click, media and affiliate channels, and coordinate cross-channel initiatives alongside its retail division.
Shaw first entered the gaming industry in 2002 as a business analyst for Littlewoods Gaming where he also held a number of other roles before and after the company merged with Vernons and Zetters to become The Football Pools.
In 2010 Shaw joined Sportech as head of CRM where he spent three-and-a-half years before moving to Betfred in February earlier this year.
His recent promotion comes amid a period of change within Betfred’s online management team which started in July when MD Chris Sheffield announced he was to leave the company.
Betfred commercial director Rakesh Chablani was quickly selected to succeed Sheffield while Russell Young was last month promoted to take on Chablani’s commercial responsibilities.
Earlier this summer, former retail director John Haddock was promoted to take on the vacant role of Group CEO having so far given Betfred 30 years’ service.
