Betfred head of digital marketing departs
James Shaw leaves bookmaker for role outside the industry, firm yet to appoint successor

Betfred head of digital marketing James Shaw (pictured) has left the firm for a role outside the industry, eGaming Review has learned.
Shaw, who joined the Warrington-headquartered operator in February 2014, had been in the gambling industry since 2002 but has now left to become chief marketing officer at holiday cottage rental agency Sykes Cottages.
His departure from Betfred comes a year-and-a-half after being appointed to the head of digital marketing role, having initially joined the operator as head of retention.
Shaw’s previous roles in the industry include head of CRM at Sportech and business analyst Littlewoods Gaming.
“I can confirm James Shaw has left Betfred and we wish him all the best in his new position,” a spokesperson for Betfred said this morning, adding there was “no news” on Shaw’s replacement.
Shaw’s departure comes after Rakesh Chablani stepped down as Betfred MD last summer to take on a new business development director position with the firm. Commercial director Russell Young has since been leading the Gibraltar-based digital arm on an interim basis.
Last year also saw the exit of Betfred.com director of operations and strategy Sean Doherty following four-and-a-half years at the firm.
In July Betfred announced turnover from its digital operations for the 18 months to 28 September 2014 had risen 15% on a pro rata basis to ?1.9bn.
