Betfred names Haddock as new group CEO
Retail and as-yet-unnamed online managing directors to report into John Haddock
Betfred has promoted its retail managing director John Haddock to the position of group CEO.
Haddock, who has been with the Warrington-headquartered firm for 30 years, has assumed responsibility for both its retail and online businesses “ a role which had been vacant since Trevor Beaumont stepped down two years ago.
Betfred’s retail and online managing directors will now report into Haddock, the latter of which has yet to be named following the news that Chris Sheffield will leave next month.
Haddock has been a key figure at Betfred and has overseen significant growth in its retail division and the launch of Betfred.com prior to Sheffield’s arrival.
The operator now owns more than 1,350 betting shops across the UK and has invested heavily in its online business in recent years.
According to Betfred’s 2013 financial results, online profits grew by 42% to £6.6m, around 10% of total group profit, a figure which is likely to have risen following a landmark £9m ad campaign for the last football season.
Last week eGaming Review revealed current Betfred Digital MD Sheffield is to step down after three-and”a-half years, and that an internal replacement is the most likely scenario.
