BetMGM launches in DC through Nationals partnership
Online sports betting now available at Nationals Park with retail sportsbook in works

BetMGM launched mobile sports betting in Washington DC on June 10, marking the 11th jurisdiction in which its sports betting app is available for use.
The launch is part of a greater multi-year partnership between BetMGM and the Washington Nationals, with the two parties also collaborating on a retail sportsbook at Nationals Park, which is on track to open by the end of 2021.
“Launching in Washington DC at Nationals Park sets the stage for our plans to expand BetMGM within the region, as we’ve already seen great success in Virginia,” said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt.
“The Washington Nationals have been a fantastic partner, committed to innovating the in-stadium fan experience and we’re looking forward to opening our retail sportsbook at the stadium later this year.”
The nation’s capital is leading the way when it comes to marrying sports betting and sports fandom, with the country’s first in-stadium retail sportsbook opening last month at Capital One Arena as part of a partnership between WIlliam Hill-Caesars and Monumental Sports and Entertainment.
Once the BetMGM sportsbook opens, fans of three of the four major Washington professional sports teams — the Wizards, Capitals, and Nationals — will be able to blend their viewing and betting experiences.
“The BetMGM mobile app will enable our fans to engage with the game in new and exciting ways, while the BetMGM sportsbook connected to Nationals Park will provide Nationals fans and the DC community with a first-class gathering place to celebrate their passion for sports,” said Lerner Sports Group CEO Alan Gottlieb.
Because of local restrictions, BetMGM users will only be able to place wagers either inside Nationals Park or within a two-block radius of the ballpark. The app, however, can be accessed throughout the District.
