Betsson expands into Greece with double licence award
Malta-based operator earns approval to offer online casino and sports betting in country for seven-year term

Betsson has been granted two licences for online gaming and betting in Greece by the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC).
The operator’s flagship Betsson brand will be launched in the country in the coming weeks.
The Betsson.gr domain will offer its customers a wide range of gambling services, including sports betting, casino, live casino and virtual sports.
The two licences issued by the HGC will cover games of chance such as casino, slots and poker, as well as sports betting and will be localised for the Greek region.
Both of the certificates will be valid for an initial period of seven years.
One of the products, Betsson 500k, allows players to pick the correct outcome of 20 different sporting events for a shot at the half-million jackpot.
Another offering called Betsson+ enables players to create a bet on their selected footballer across all big events this summer, such as the European Championships.
Additionally, Betsson will offer a customer support service in the Greek language.
Pontus Lindwall, president and CEO of Betsson AB, said: “We are really pleased to receive these licences and to welcome Greece as Betsson’s 18th locally regulated market.
“As in other markets, our vision for Greece is to offer the best customer experience possible, and we have partnered with some great gaming suppliers and payment providers to augment our offering.
“The Greek gaming market has experienced significant growth over the past years and we see a lot of potential,” he added.
Last year, the Greek government moved to impose a €2 maximum stake limit on all online slots games alongside limits on prizes.
