BetVictor boosts German betting brand launch with Bild media deal
Gibraltar-headquartered bookmaker inks partnership with German newspaper giant to power BildBet

BetVictor has sealed a strategic media deal with Germany’s best-selling newspaper Bild to develop a new sports betting brand called BildBet.
The Gibraltar-headquartered bookmaker received a sports betting licence from the Darmstadt Regional Council earlier this month, together with 14 other operators including international heavyweights bet365 and GVC.
German newspaper behemoth Axel Springer SE, which owns the Bild brand famous for its sports coverage, said BildBet will aim to launch in December. The duration of the partnership was not disclosed.
“We are honoured and excited to collaborate with a brand as iconic as Bild,” BetVentures MD Brent Almeida told EGR.
“The combination of BetVictor’s proven operational capabilities and technology with Bild’s trustworthiness and brand recognition has the potential to transform the newly regulated betting market in Germany.
“In a country long dominated by two players, we have a unique opportunity to enter the market with a fresh offering suited to Bild’s recreational audience that puts player protection at the forefront,” he added.
EGR has learned the deal will include adding BildBet links on web content across other brands operated by Axel Springer, as well as on advertising material. The partnership will also see a significant proportion of BetVictor’s marketing budget allocated to the promotion of the new sports betting platform.
BetVictor will provide the technology to service the BildBet brand under its German licence and will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the brand.
“Bild is known for unique sports reporting and enthusiasm for sports,” Axel Springer said.
“Through the collaboration with BetVictor, this shall now be expanded in the form of an attractive and user-friendly betting service,” the media conglomerate added.
Bild is one of Europe’s largest daily news and sport papers with an average daily readership of more than two million and average monthly views of 200 million.
Founded by Axel Springer in 1952, Bild is a tabloid newspaper often described as being similar in style and approach to The Sun in the UK.
Axel Springer SE operates a news and marketing media empire which includes a multitude of international brands.
Under Germany’s new sports betting licensing regime, operators must add a wagering limit of €1,000 (£900) per month that can be increased to €10,000 (£9,000) subject to certain criteria being met, as well as specific loss limits across all German-licensed sports betting sites in their portfolio.
