Betway to sponsor Danish handball coverage
Deal will see promotional trailers and idents broadcast on the Danish channels TV 2 and TV 2 Sport in the run-up to, and throughout, the handball season.

Microgaming-powered operator Betway has announced a deal which will see the company sponsor television coverage of handball in Denmark.
The sponsorship programme, part of a drive to increase the brand’s profile around Europe, will see Betway partner with the Danish state broadcaster TV 2 and its sports subsidiary TV 2 Sport, and will come into effect head of the start of the 2013 handball season, which runs from February to May.
TV 2 will broadcast 3-second promotional trailers and 4-second idents around matches and in ad breaks, while TV 2 Sport will show 8-second trailers in the days leading up to, then throughout, the season.
Commenting on the deal Betway CEO Richard Akitt said: “Denmark is a key market for us and we are very pleased to be associated with what is a hugely popular sport in the country, and to be working with two key Danish broadcast channels.”
Aside from football, handball is Denmark’s most popular sport, with almost 10% of the country’s population “ 600,000 people “ watching the final match of the 2012 season. It marks the beginning of a concerted push to establish the Betway brand in target markets including Spain, Italy and Denmark, following a deal to sponsor Trinity Mirror’s fantasty football league in the UK, announced in August this year.
Betway has also partnered with social casino operator Clickfun Casino “ a company also backed by Microgaming “ to launch real money versions of Clickfun’s Facebook slots.
