BoyleSports’ digital turnover climbs 16%
Figures seen by EGR also show turnover from the Irish operator’s mobile division increased 23%, with group turnover up 10%

BoyleSports’ online business recorded a 16% year-on-year rise in turnover for the first five months of 2018, helping the Irish operator to a more than 40% revenue rise during the period.
According to figures seen by EGR, the Dundalk-based bookmaker’s digital arm saw turnover from its mobile business climb 23% year-on-year, while group turnover increased by 10%.
The double-digit growth comes off the back of a strong 2017 for the operator. “Our online business, like our retail business, is doing very well,” Eddie Bennett, BoyleSports’ online MD, told EGR Intel.
Bennett added: “We grew our business by 10% last year in what is a very competitive marketplace.
“Online and mobile did especially well with year on year growth of 30pc. BoyleSports is putting a lot of attention to the mobile market right now. All the evidence is that this is where the growth is and will continue to be for some time.”
The new company figures come exactly a year since founder John Boyle stepped down as CEO to be replaced by Conor Gray, who had been COO at the Irish bookmaker since 2014.
Digital chief Bennett said the promotion of Gray to CEO had brought “a new energy” to BoyleSports’ online division.
“Before taking over the CEO role, Conor was the COO and was the person we dealt with on most matters so that changeover has not been disruptive for us,” he said.
“He’s keen to make his mark and having been responsible for the digital business in the past, he appreciates its importance.”
