Long-serving head of finance Michael Bent leaves Irish operator as Mark O'Neill comes in

BoyleSports has appointed a new finance director after incumbent Michael Bent parted company with the firm at the turn of the year, EGR has learned.
Mark O’Neill joins the bookmaker on 3 May from Irish food company Kerry Ingredients as a direct replacement for Bent, who had spent 11 years with the Dundalk-based operator.
O’Neill was Kerry’s finance director for the EMEA region for six years, prior to which he held a similar role at O’Brien’s Irish Sandwich Bars.
“I am delighted that Mark has decided to join the BoyleSports team,” John Boyle, BoyleSports founder and chief executive, said.
“Coming from a multinational, PLC background Mark will make a very worthwhile contribution to the ongoing development of BoyleSports in the competitive and fast-moving sector in which we operate,” he added.
The departure of Bent preceded a number of other senior exits with the likes of CMO Neill Garfield and head of football Martin Wilson both having left since the turn of the year, while Bent’s finance number two Niall Durnin joined rival firm BetVictor in September.
On Tuesday EGR reported BoyleSports commercial director Brendan Hughes departed at the start of April to take on a chief digital officer role at Irish media group Independent News & Media.
In addition, EGR also understands former Mfuse CEO and founder Marcus Wareham, who joined BoyleSports’ recently established Gibraltar base as head of product marketing last summer, also left in recent months to relocate back to the UK.
Last week BoyleSports appointed former Lottoland UK marketing director and head of Totepool.com Eddie Bennett as digital MD while January saw the arrival of former Ladbrokes head of football David Burgin as the operator’s new head of trading.
