Bwin develops horseracing product for Sportingbet migration
New horseracing product to launch on bwin and Sportingbet in December

Bwin has developed a horseracing product to enable the smooth transition of Sportingbet to its tech platform.
GVC has been transferring products to bwin’s back-end platform since acquiring the European-facing business in February 2016, and UK-based Sportingbet is next in line to make the switch, which is likely to be completed in December this year.
As a result, the bwin tech team has created a horseracing product in the back end to allow Sportingbet to continue to offer its full portfolio of products. The same product will also be launched on the bwin site.
The bwin development will also improve features like each way betting and offering odds to three decimal places.
Bwin are trialling the UK mobile-only version of the product to a select 100 VIP customers to attain feedback before rolling it out to a further 100 Sportingbet customers, who are more accustomed to horseracing.
Raja B-Sheikh, head of sports product at GVC told EGR: ““The aim of this project is not to take on the UK high street bookies, but to provide our valued Sportingbet customers with a highly functional and slick horse betting proposition within the bwin technology stack.”
“This is in line with our ambition to offer our customers the most complete and innovative sports product on the market; a horse racing product is a vital piece of that proposition.”
The horseracing offering will also include tips and editorial from sports data supplier Timeform, as well as jockey’s jersey images on the mobile platform.
“The product is a really solid and competitive offer. While it doesn’t currently have live streaming or a bet finder feature, the interface and navigation is streamlined, data rich and as good as anything on the market,” added B-Sheikh.
