Bwin partners with tech start-up for chatbot launch
New product designed to boost customer engagement ahead of the World Cup

Bwin has launched a new chatbot in Germany and Austria ahead of the World Cup as part of a new push to improve customer engagement.
The so-called ‘WettBuddy’ is available through Facebook Messenger and will start conversations with users around their favourite team and upcoming matches, or respond to the questions or comments posed by the user.
The tool will also provide real-time and context sensitive content, including match stats and trivia.
According to the GVC-owned sportsbook, WettBuddy will enable it to “serve up the most relevant and attractive offers, and deliver a more interactive betting experience, tailored to each individual customer”.
“Our commitment at bwin is to provide our players with a complete betting experience,” said Stephan Heilmann GVC’s head of DACH.
“WettBudy is all about engaging the customer to provide a more personalised, richer interaction between them and our product, maximising the enjoyment of gaming with us.
“A first for the industry, all in all, it is set to be the perfect online companion for the sports betting fan this summer.”
The chat bot was developed by tech start-up Tokabot, will be launched this month in Germany and Austria in a trial phase before a wider roll-out.
Tokabot CEO Yaniv Levin added: “We believe that social fan engagement, using Tokabot’s unique approach, is the key to the future of the entire sports eco system unlocking new opportunities for all stake-holders.
“Naturally, Tokabot is also a perfect fit for the sports betting segment, both from the business and the user excitement aspects. As a start-up company, we are looking forward to showing our strengths and ability, enroute to a long term and successful relationship with a great partner as bwin.”
Several betting firms have experimented with chatbot products, including Sky Bet who used it for customer services and Paddy Power.
