BWIN Italia has signed with Dragonfish for casino, marking Dragonfish’s first foray into the lucrative Italian market.
The deal will see Dragonfish, the business-to-business division of 888 Holdings, supply in-house and third party developed download and flash games including classic and video slots, video poker and table games.
Bwin general director of activities in Italy Paolo Di Feo said: “We believe 888 is a top brand and Dragonfish will be able to capitalise on the experience they have and help us in offering our clients a very strong and secure entertainment line-up.”
Italy, which began regulating online gambling in 2007 and is still adding to the number of authorised games, is the biggest online gambling market in Europe.
Bwin’s Ongame Network launched an Italian poker network with five million players last week spearheaded by Gioco Digitale, the Italian operator that Bwin acquired in September 2009, and which pools the liquidity of the BetPro.it, Bwin, Casino di Venezia, Fast Poker, Gioco Digitale, Gmatica and Sportingbet.it operators.
Other players boosting their presence in Italy include Microgaming, which announced that it was launching an Italian poker network last week, and near namesake Microgame, which signed a deal in January to incorporate virtual sports games into its People’s Network, the biggest online player community in Italy, in the latest of a series of moves to expand its offering there.
