Cara de Poker bought by PokerStars
High-traffic former iPoker skin will boost Stars' player base in the newly regulated Spanish market.

Cara de Poker, one of Playtech’s largest iPoker licensees, has been bought by PokerStars ahead of the operator’s entry into the regulated Spanish market.
The Spanish-language site has now been rebranded in the PokerStars style, and the integration has been completed in time for this Sunday’s World Record Attempt tournament.
The CEO of another operator with an iPoker skin has suggested to eGaming Review that Cara de Poker contributed “close to 20%” of iPoker’s Spanish liquidity, but said: “I don’t believe it is going to affect the network liquidity that much, as other skins with strong brands will be aggressive as the market opens up.”
Players with an existing Cara de Poker account have been instructed to open an account with PokerStars before existing balances can be transferred over.
A statement from Cara de Poker to its players explained: “We believe that the gaming experience you get at PokerStars is infinitely superior to any other market supply and is the best legacy we can give you.”
eGaming Review first reported that Cara de Poker was up for sale in 18 November, the day which saw the Spanish market open for licence applications.
PokerStars was one of the 16 operators revealed to be among the first applicants for licences in Spain.
