Carousel Group enters US with Colorado betting license
Operator to launch SportsBetting.com brand to state-wide players

European Carousel Group has made its entry into the US betting fray with a license to operate an online and mobile sportsbook in Colorado.
The Colorado Division of Gaming awarded a license on Thursday to the SportsBetting.com operator, with the firm’s flagship brand expected to be rolled out when sport resumes later this year.
Carousel Group joins current Colorado sports betting licensees BetMGM, BetRivers, DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook. As part of gaming regulations, all operators must maintain a physical presence at a land-based casino within the state.
SportsBetting.com runs on Carousel Group’s proprietary in-house platform and operates both on desktop and mobile.
The operator revealed plans to open offices in both New Jersey and Colorado later this year.
Founded in 2017, and headquartered in Madrid, the business operates two main brands, the other being Racebook.com. Carousel Group is backed by private equity and licensed in Malta, and initially launched its two brands in LatAm and dotcom European markets.
Founder and CEO Daniel Graetzer previously worked with Spanish gaming giant R Franco and as an industry consultant.
Addressing the firm’s expanding US operations, Carousel Group CEO Graetzer said: “While other entities have closed their doors and laid off employees, we’re hiring staff and expanding our operations in the United States.”
The Johnny Nolon’s Casino in Cripple Creek, Colorado, will provide a physical location for customers to wager on odds offered by SportsBetting.com.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with such an emerging, dynamic and technologically-driven company such as Carousel Group,” Johnny Nolon’s general manager David Minter said.
Earlier this week, Carousel Group appointed former BetEasy product manager Josh Littin as its new director of digital, with the group expected to target further international launches in 2020.
In 2019 it hired the former head of product for GVC’s Gala Coral Phillip Wilson as COO.
