Catena Media acquires affiliate AskGamblers for £12m
Firm expands footprint in European egaming affiliate market with latest acquisition

Catena Media has acquired casino affiliate AskGamblers for €15m (£12m), the egaming performance marketing firm’s biggest acquisition to date.
The deal, which is Catena Media’s third acquisition of the year, is formed of an initial sum of €3m (£2.4m) for the Serbia-based affiliate, €8.25m (£6.6m) when all assets have been transferred, with a further €3.75m (£3m) payable six months after completion.
According to figures released this morning, AskGamblers recorded sales of approximately €810,000 during Q1 2016 with a profit margin of 80%.
“We are incredibly proud of acquiring AskGamblers which is one of the best brands in the affiliate market and whose operations are a perfect fit for Catena Media,” Robert Andersson (pictured), CEO of Catena Media, said.
“AskGamblers is an extremely important site for casino operators and, through its stringent requirements for certified casinos, contributes to creating a better [egaming] industry.
“The transaction is the largest in Catena Media’s history and in line with our strategy of growth through acquisitions in a fragmented market,” he added.
Catena Media said it planned to retain AskGamblers’ 30-strong staff, which would take its total headcount to 130 people across three different countries.
News of the acquisition comes just weeks after the Malta-headquartered business bought Sweden-facing affiliate network Wonko Media for €2.7m and a number of additional casino comparison websites for €2.4m.
