London-based business newspaper becomes latest media brand to launch egaming product
London business newspaper City A.M. has partnered with mobile casino supplier Nektan to become the latest media brand to launch an online gaming product.
City A.M. Casino is available through HTML5-developed apps for both smartphones and tablets, and follows a soft-launch of the product late last year.
Blackjack, roulette and slots games have been launched and Nektan is to add a number of new mobile and tablet-optimised games over the coming year.
Nektan COO Matt Sunderland said the partnership would be a “good fit” for both organisations and highlighted the newspaper’s daily readership of almost 400,000.
“We provide the games, technology, operational expertise and great user experience and City A.M. provides access to an impressive reach of consumers via its newspaper, website and mobile apps,” Sunderland said.
City A.M. co-founder and managing director Lawson Muncaster said the casino launch would provide the publication with a greater opportunity to engage with its readers and would be “another significant stage in the multiplatform development” of the newspaper.
Deals between media groups and online gaming firms have become increasingly common, with some of Europe’s major media organisations launching online gaming products in 2014.
Gazzetta dello Sport (GdS) publishers RCS Media signed with Playtech to release an Italy-facing GdS-branded sportsbook in August last year while in the UK The Guardian teamed-up with sportsbook provider FSB Technology to launch its gowager product in February.
Meanwhile, News International’s UK-facing daily tabloid The Sun originally partnered with BetVictor to launch an online sportsbook before the bookmaker pulled out of the deal following Michael Tabor’s acquisition of the firm.
