ComeOn launches machine learning responsible gambling tool
Cherry subsidiary to use “motivational interviewing” to encourage safer gambling among players

ComeOn has launched a new machine learning responsible gambling tool to help it detect and protect problem gamblers.
The tool, developed in partnership with data science company Neccton, uses player tracking software to detect risk patterns and changes in player behaviour, highlighting problem gambling indicators.
ComeOn said any players identified as being at risk will automatically receive personalised feedback and tailored communications, with the aim of encouraging the player to gamble responsibly.
Development of this communication tool was based on “motivational interviewing” a clinical psychology approach which encourages behavioural change through a series of questions which prompt individuals to change bad habits through introspection. The concept was initially developed to treat individuals with drinking problems.
ComeOn responsible gambling manager Helena Berg said providing the right conditions and incentives for players to gamble responsible was part of its commitment to provide gaming in a “safe and sustainable” way.
Dr Michael Auer, director at Neccton, hailed the partnership with ComeOn as a way to ensure player safety among their customers.
“Using modern technology to analyse player behavior, detect risk signals and in a user-friendly way inform the players is a great method that has proven to be successful modifying player behaviour,” Auer added.
