Crucial Compliance strikes deal to acquire safety app BetProtect
The app will aid the company’s drive to reduce gambling harm as David Bradford becomes safer gambling adviser

Gibraltar-based consultancy Crucial Compliance has acquired gambling safety app BetProtect.
It will obtain the BetProtect brand and its products from the Safer Online Gambling Group.
The app offers tools, along with professional advice, to assist bettors in understanding and managing their relationship with gambling.
It can be integrated into a player’s gaming experience on both mobile and desktop, and the app has been developed with the expert help of leading therapists and counsellors.
The BetProtect app was launched as recently as June, and was developed by the father and son partnership of David and Adam Bradford.
It was an idea that began after David was convicted of stealing money from his employer, a crime committed to fund his gambling problem that was hidden from his family and friends for years.
Subsequently he served a prison sentence following the verdict.
Since then, the Bradfords have spent several years campaigning for change in the industry.
This has included lobbying for more support for addicts, and pushing for gambling addiction to be recognised as a mental health problem, plus advising gambling companies on how to create safer gambling projects.
Now that the app has been acquired by Crucial Compliance, there is an opportunity for the app to grow significantly.
David Bradford will play a central role in the development of the app, as he will take up the newly created role of safer gambling adviser.
Overall, Crucial Compliance aims to support companies in building a long-term and sustainable responsible betting and gaming model.
Crucial Compliance CEO Paul Foster said: “Equipped with the app, and the knowledge and insight we can gain from David’s lived experiences, we are setting out to change the industry one company at a time, and the acquisition of BetProtect forms another cornerstone of that objective.
“In the short term, we’re seeking to prevent gambling-related harm and protect players as quickly as possible. In the longer term, I truly believe we can drive real cultural change in the industry,” he added.
