Danish Gambling Authority plots illegal affiliates clampdown
Authority report reveals illegal gambling via Facebook and skins betting was also on the rise in Denmark

The Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden) is planning to block a number of non-compliant affiliate websites in coming months it revealed this week.
The clampdown follows an ongoing investigation on illegal gambling activity online by the Danish Tax authority’s anti-fraud department.
A report published by the authority last week revealed that the number of affiliates linked to unlicensed operators were on the rise.
The report said the authority would take action to block a number of non-compliant affiliates in Q4 2017.
Legal officer at Spillemyndigheden Maria Kronen told EGR: “There are not that many actual illegal gambling sites anymore, it’s just the illegal marketing that is a problem.
She said the authority was also dealing with a rise in skins betting and Facebook gambling.
Kronen said a number of privately-run lotteries operating via Facebook groups had cropped up in the last year.
“We are trying to set up a meeting with Facebook and talk to them about what we can do. Our first problem is that we can’t say for certain what goes on in the groups,” Kronen added.
