Danske Spil extends bwin.party supplier deal
Danish operator will continue to use bwin.party's poker and casino games until at least 2019
Bwin.party has signed a multi-year extension to its licensing agreement to supply Danish operator Danske Spil with casino and poker games.
The pair first joined forces back in January 2012 when Denmark first regulated its online gaming industry, and the extended agreement extends that deal until 2019.
Danske Spil has since emerged as the market leader in the casino vertical while 10,000 poker players have registered for its dot.dk offering.
The former monopoly’s CEO Niels Folmann said given its current relationship with bwin.party, the firm was the “obvious choice” to help to continue to grow its online business.
“The digital channel has become a meaningful part of our overall business and we are determined to grow it further over the coming years,” he added.
Bwin.party CEO Norbert Teufelberger said he was “thrilled” that the licensing deal has been extended and that Danske Spil was “the clear market leader” in Denmark.
Danske Spil has recently bolstered its online offering after acquiring a 60% stake on daily fantasy sports operator Swush.
The operator plans to scale up its activity in the sector and anticipates considerable growth in DFS in the coming months and years.
