Delaware to launch online gambling next week
State lottery director confirms real-money online gambling will go live in the state on 31 October
Delaware Lottery director Vernon Kirk has confirmed history will be made in the state next week when regulated online gambling goes live on 31 October.
The state will become the first to offer legal online casino games, not just poker as in Nevada, ahead of New Jersey which is due to launch egaming on 26 November following a five-day trial period.
Delaware was the first US state to pass law regulating a full suite of online gambling in June 2012, when Governor Jack Markell signed the Delaware Competitive Act of 2012 into law.
Each of the state’s racinos “ Delaware Park, Dover Downs and Harrington Raceway “ will launch branded sites on a single gaming platform overseen by the lottery. The latter will receive a 43.5% share of revenues on slots and 34% on table games including poker.
All three operators launched free versions of popular casino games on Facebook in August.
Earlier this year eGR North America revealed that Scientific Games, 888 and Williams Interactive will provide the state’s online gambling services, following a quick-fire RFP process.
Under the regulations players must be physically located within the borders of the state, which has a population of 900,000.
