DraftKings hires new chief legal officer to aid expansion plans
R. Stanton Dodge to manage compliance and regulatory efforts as firm expands to new domestic and international markets

DraftKings has appointed R. Stanton Dodge as its new chief legal officer, the firm announced Wednesday.
Dodge joins from satellite broadcast firm DISH, and will oversee the legal and government affairs teams based in Boston.
He will report into DraftKings CEO and co-founder Jason Robins.
“Stanton brings to DraftKings a wealth of experience and expertise in legal and government affairs,” said Robins.
“During his nearly two decades at DISH, he helped the company grow from a startup in a fledgling industry into a telecommunications giant.”
As general counsel for DISH, Dodge successfully defended the company’s industry-disrupting technology that allowed customers to skip TV commercials
Robins added: “Stanton will be a major driver and enabler of DraftKings’ future growth as we continue to evolve and expand into new lines of business around the world, and we are very excited to have him join the talented group of women and men who work at DraftKings.”
The DFS operator is increasingly involved in compliance and governmental affairs as it attempt to get regulated in states around the US. The firm also has designs on further European and international expansion, after recently launching in Ireland and Austria on a Malta skill games license.
