Endemol Games appoints new UK MD
Owain Walbyoff steps up to managing director role following Jurian van der Meer's move to media firm's Dutch office
Endemol Games has appointed Owain Walbyoff as its new UK managing director following the relocation of its former MD Jurian van der Meer to its Dutch office.
As reported yesterday, van der Meer is to become commercial director at Endemol Netherlands to head up the firm’s efforts ahead of the Dutch market opening up next year, and it has now been revealed that Owain Walbyoff will succeed him.
Walbyoff had served as Endemol Games commercial director but will now assume van der Meer’s position, reporting to Endemol UK CEO Lucas Church.
In the new role he will oversee the licensing and monetising of Endemol and third party IP for branded online gaming content, such as Deal or No Deal, The Million Pound Drop and Big Brother.
Walbyoff has been at Endemol Games since 2009, originally serving as the firm’s head of business development before being promoted to commercial director in January last year.
“Owain has great creative and commercial talent and his experience and expertise in the gaming sphere make him the ideal person to lead Endemol Games into the next phase of growth,” Church said.
It has also been confirmed that van der Meer has joined the supervisory board of social gaming studio Plumbee, three months after Endemol became a strategic investor in the firm having pledged $13m of Series B investment.
