Entain enters VR fray with new project
London-listed operator taps partnership with Verizon Media to develop immersive experience for customers

Entain has developed a new virtual reality (VR) multiplayer experience which is set to debut later this year.
The project, developed in tandem with Verizon Media, will see Entain customers afforded access to a VR sports club entertainment experience.
Available for free on the Oculus Quest 2 VR system, the experience will allow customers to play sports games individually and together across the operator’s international brand portfolio.
Additionally, the platform will also host the livestreaming of football matches, daily fantasy squad building and immersive experiences using music and artists.
Entain said the new project reflected the FTSE 100 firm’s “ambitions to lead a new generation of interactive sports and entertainment”.
Sandeep Tiku, Entain chief operating officer, said: “We continually offer our customers a wide range of innovative and exciting experiences, and VR is an exciting opportunity for us to innovate in new ways.
The aim is to mix sports, entertainment and different types of immersive play in one product, giving customers a great mix of new, exciting stuff to enjoy.”
In a recent interview with EGR, Entain CEO Jette Nygaard-Andersen hinted at expanding the company’s interests into gaming and VR. We see plenty of scope for further consolidation M&A opportunities, potentially in the broader but related field of interactive VR and gaming.
“Fundamentally, Entain is a tech-led global interactive entertainment business and there are many opportunities for us to expand our horizons.”
A recent report suggested the VR market could be worth $101.2bn by 2027 at a CAGR of 37%.
