Entain promotes internally for head of sustainability role
Sophie Platts takes up the role after nearly four years as the operator’s head of safer gambling

Entain has promoted Sophie Platts to become the London-listed firm’s new head of sustainability.
Platts steps up, having most recently served as Entain’s head of safer gambling and external affairs.
She originally joined the firm in January 2019. Prior to her role with Entain, Platts had a number of political roles within the UK government, the Conservative Party and the House of Commons.
Platts started out as a senior caseworker for the House of Commons in June 2013 before being shifting to become a campaign manager and election agent for the Conservative Party in September 2014, concluding after the 2015 General Election.
After this, Platts was made a senior parliamentary researcher before becoming a special UK government advisor in March 2018. This was her final role before making the move to Entain.
Elsewhere, two senior Entain figures revealed that the operator is having difficulties in attempting to implement its ESG strategy.
Speaking at last week’s Entain:Sustain event in London, Enlabs CEO George Ustinov and SVP for American regulatory affairs Martin Lycka spoke about their individual struggles with finding charitable partnerships.
Lycka explained that the firm needed to reposition itself and move away from being solely focused on gambling and that by doing so, it would have a better chance at securing charitable partners.
