Malta-based operator pens tournament provider deal with Philadelphia Union

Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) has secured an agreement with Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise Philadelphia Union to become the club’s official esports tournament provider.
Under the remit of the partnership, EEG will host esports tournaments for Philadelphia Union on its newly acquired Esports Gaming League platform.
Tournament prizes include Philadelphia Union merchandise and fan experiences.
The partnership follows similar agreements penned by EEG this month with fellow MLS outfit LA Galaxy and National Hockey League (NHL) team the LA Knights.
Grant Johnson, EEG CEO, said: “We’re excited to further extend our reach into Major League Soccer through our partnership with the Philadelphia Union.
“Traditional sports teams continue to incorporate esports into their programs, and we are quickly becoming the go-to provider for tournament solutions for this highly attractive market segment,” he added.
Jean-Paul Dardenne, Philadelphia Union SVP of corporate partnerships, said: “Our team and Major League Soccer have been at the forefront of incorporating esports as a way to connect and further engage our fanbase.
“With this partnership, we are excited to continue to build on our success in esports and to provide another way for fans to connect to the team they love,” he concluded.
