Exclusive: Bet365 and Genius Sports agree “explorative” data partnership
Data supplier set to introduce its Second Spectrum tracking tech to bet365’s offering in expansion of existing partnership

Genius Sports has expanded its partnership with bet365 with an additional explorative launch of its Second Spectrum tracking technology, EGR can exclusively reveal.
The long-term extension to the existing partnership will see Genius Sports continue to provide the operator with its portfolio of official data rights including the Premier League and a range of American sports.
Alongside the expansion of the data deal, the pair are set to explore the implementation of Genius Sports’ Second Spectrum technology.
The data firm acquired Los Angeles-headquartered data tracking provider Second Spectrum in a $200m deal in May 2021.
The firm uses advanced AI and computer vision technology to capture precise ball and player location data.
Second Spectrum previously held partnerships with ESPN, BT Sport, and Bally Sports to offer augmented reality features for select football and basketball games.
Genius Sports and bet365 will now look at how to implement this tech in a sports betting scenario.
Speaking to EGR, Genius Sports global partnerships director Matt Stephenson described the new deal as the “evolution” of the supplier’s services.
Stephenson said: “We’re really excited about taking these assets and putting them into a betting experience. It is to be determined how the tech will look as we are at a nascent and explorative stage.
“The chance to put the Second Spectrum tech towards operators will improve the customer experience is an exciting one,” he added.
Stephenson went on to add the supplier hoped to showcase the Second Spectrum tech with bet365 before eventually expanding its services to other operators.
