Exclusive: Kindred begins hunt for new Unibet Australia head as Peter Staunton departs
Operator says it “remains firmly committed” to the Australian market but business was “ready for new leadership”

Kindred Group remains “firmly committed” to the Australian market despite letting go of its long-serving Unibet Australia general manager Peter Staunton yesterday, EGR can reveal.
Staunton left because the company required “new leadership” in Australia, according to Kindred’s chief commercial officer AJ Snijders, with the brand struggling to gain traction Down Under in recent years.
Staunton, who previously worked at Sportingbet, Centrebet and Tabcorp, had led Kindred’s Unibet business in Australia for nearly five years having replaced former general manager Patrik Andersson in 2015.
EGR understands a search for Staunton’s successor is now underway.
“Kindred continuously reviews operations in markets to ensure consistently strong market activities, and it has been agreed with Peter Staunton that Kindred’s operations in Australia is ready for new leadership,” Snijders told EGR.
Snijders added: “Peter has been with Kindred for almost five years and has made a successful contribution towards our achievements in Australia.
“Kindred remains firmly committed to the Australia operations and see clear opportunities going forward.”
Kindred entered the Australian market in 2012 with the acquisition of Betchoice for AU$20m (£13.6m at the time), before rebranding it to Unibet.
