Exclusive: Oddschecker launches Oz odds comparison service
BSkyB-owned site launches white label service for News International newspaper group - six local operators join with two slots remaining.

UK odds comparison site Oddschecker has signed an exclusive white label partnership in Australia with News International owned newspaper titles The Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph.
The BSkyB-owned site has built a white label website branded ‘Oddsscanner’ for the Australian newspaper group. Soft-launched earlier this week it compares odds from six local operators including Totesportsbet, Paddy Power owned Sportsbet, Sportingbet, Betchoice, Betstar, and Luxbet.
There are eight positions available with Oddschecker known to be in discussions with other operators to fill the two remaining slots. Pending testing Bet365 is awaiting confirmation of full approval for a Northern Territories licence in Australia. The remaining operators not featured include Betfair, licensed in Tasmania and Paddy Power owned IASBet.
The website will be operated and maintained by Oddschecker and display odds offered by Australian bookmakers on more than 30 sports including Australian Rules, football, tennis and greyhound and horse racing.
The Herald Sun is the most popular sports website in Australia with Oddsscanner fully integrated into its online sports sections.
Derren Maggs, general manager at Oddschecker, said: “This is a very exciting partnership with Australia’s biggest media outlet. Since regulation the Australian market has shown tremendous growth and this is a great opportunity for us to develop the business in another international territory.
“We’re delighted with the Oddsscanner product, we’ve partnered with the top bookmakers and the 3m sports users of the Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph will now benefit by getting the best odds and winning more money.”
As part of the deal Oddschecker also developed a range of separate betting widgets that can be deployed across the newspaper’s websites to display the most popular bets, best odds for particular events and hot offers.
The Herald Sun is the highest-circulating daily newspaper and mainly serves the population of Melbourne while the Daily Telegraph is the leading Sydney based title.
