Paddy Power has launched its new casino product specifically created for iPad and iPhone devices after the app was approved by Apple’s App Store.
Roller Casino is a native application for iOS devices, and was developed in partnership with Viaden Gaming. It features a range of 19 real-money games including tables, slots, video poker, and roulette. All games can be played for free in order to practice before playing for real money.
Having been approved by the App Store where it will be available to download for free, Roller Casino will officially launch on Monday, with Paddy Power claiming it is the only app to be “designed specifically for the iPad and iPhone”.
Ian Macleod, Paddy Power’s senior marketing manager – mobile special projects, told eGR this focus on iOS allowed the operator to be far more detailed in the development stage, and design games to fit how players intuitively use their iPhone and iPads.
“We felt there was an opportunity to create a new mobile casino brand and product to suit the modern lifestyle, and to be completely customer focused. We know there is huge potential in this area, especially for the iPhone and iPad.”
One example of such innovation is within the Roller Roulette game, which allows players to throw in the ball and spin the wheel themselves by swiping the screen of their iPad or iPhone.
A HTML5 solution is available for Android users, while further games are expected to be added to the app before Christmas.
The app’s launch could further help Paddys solidify its leading mobile market share. Mobile net revenue was up 239% to 53m in the first half of 2012, with 54% of active sportsbook customers transacting via mobile in June.
In the operator’s recent interim results it reported that it had incurred a 6.3m loss following its investment in Roller Casino, which was in submission phase with Apple at the time, along with social sports betting game BetDash; and Cayetano, a small mobile and tablet games developer it acquired last year.
