Fanball DFS platform goes live
Brainchild of FSTA president Paul Charchian and Rob Phythian launches first football contests

Fanball, the DFS platform relaunched by Paul Charchian and Rob Phythian, has gone live with its first contests.
The site, which aims to offer DFS players a more equal alternative to FanDuel and DraftKings, started offering football contests on Thursday, ahead of the new NFL season.
It claims to give fans a better chance of winning by offering traditional salary cap contests with a twist.
Each player is given a Fanball number based on his or her DFS experience and ability, which adjusts up and down based on winnings and game history.
Fanball players will only play in contests against other players with similar Fanball numbers to themselves.
Fanball was originally launched back in 1993 as a fantasy sports content site but was shelved two years after Charchian and Phythian originally sold it in 2005.
Charchian told EGR the relaunched platform would start with around two million customers thanks to various acquisitions in recent months including the player databases of season-long fantasy platform NFFC and What If, as well as Charchian’s Leaguesafe platform.
He also said Fanball was also working on three other different formats to launch alongside the salary cap games, while the other main US sports would be launched ahead of their respective season.
