FDJ kicks-off underage betting prevention campaign
Former French monopoly launches new responsible gambling media campaign featuring former footballer Bixente Lizarazu

French operator la Française des Jeux (FDJ) has signed up former footballer Bixente Lizarazu to lead a new media campaigned aimed at preventing underage gambling.
The campaign kicked off this week with the tagline “When under 18, sport we live it. But to bet, forget it!” and is set to be aired online during the course of the upcoming football World Cup.
Former France international Lizarazu, who now works as a TV presenter, features in the main campaign clip which is aimed at retailers, gamblers and parents as part of the FDJ’s commitment to responsible gambling.
The video is available on YouTube and on various stakeholder sites, including the Foundation for Football, and will also be aired on TV during next season’s French football cup.
A new logo highlighting it is illegal for under 18s to gamble will also be featured on all sports betting adverts during the World Cup.
The lottery and betting operator said that following the completion of the campaign it plans to evaluate the most effective way it can prevent underage betting.
Earlier this year the operator set itself the target of reaching 1bn in revenues by 2018 after posting a 5.5% rise in full-year online gaming revenues to 410m in 2013.
