ADVANCED GAMES LAB has launched what it says is the world’s first massively multiplayer online casino website, AbsoluteCasino.com.
AbsoluteCasino claims to be the only licensed online casino with integrated social networking functionality, allowing millions of people to play simultaneously via a proprietary cloud-based software platform.
The first phase of the venture comprises the launch of a play-for-fun site featuring blackjack, poker and roulette, available via the AbsoluteCasino.com website and social networking site Facebook. This will be followed by a real-money version later this year, which will be licensed by Alderney from 1 November.
Founder and chief executive Hussein Chahine (pictured) said: “I have been a technology provider to the gaming and betting industry for the past five years and it became clear to me that the industry has stopped innovating. The technology suppliers are too removed from the consumer, while the operators are falling short of understanding and building a business that embraces today’s social-networked internet world. This has presented a unique opportunity for us to enter the market as a new gaming company, where millions of concurrent players are empowered to connect [and] compete.”
Co-founder and executive chairman Bijan Khezri said: “Interactive and competitive multiplayer gaming experience opens up an unprecedented range of revenue and acquisition models that, to date, have been enjoyed only by game-console and media companies.”
