Former William Hill Online MD joins Onionsack amid corporate rebrand
Irish firm appoints Andrew Lee to chairman role as vocal betting technology company becomes Voxbet

Onionsack has appointed former William Hill Online MD and ex-The Stars Group (TSG) international sportsbook MD Andrew Lee as its new chairman.
The appointment comes as part of a wholesale rebrand of the Irish sports betting technology supplier’s corporate identity from Onionsack to Voxbet, a rebrand which is effective immediately.
A veteran of the gambling sector, Lee spent four years as MD of William Hill Online, working from the bookmaker’s Gibraltar office.
He later spent two years as managing director of international sportsbook for TSG, exiting the business just before its absorption by Flutter Entertainment in May 2020.
Lee has also served as MD of BlitzBet, the online gambling operator backed by online poker personality and social media star Dan Bilzerian. He has also provided consultant-based services to a number of entrepreneurs, blue-chip online gambling companies and start-up businesses.
Voxbet founder and CEO Jonathan Power welcomed the appointment of Lee, citing his previous tenure at William Hill, where he was responsible for driving the UK bookmaker’s mobile-first online gambling strategy, as well as the potential for a similar voice-first revolution.
“We’re delighted that Andy has agreed to come onboard as chairman, as we seek to rapidly expand and grow our global customer base.
“Andy has a track record of succeeding by being ahead of the curve. We’re already enjoying the benefit of Andy’s analytical eye and strategic planning and when he speaks, people listen. That’s priceless for us.
“As such, the rebrand to Voxbet feels a judicious one, in that it immediately identifies our area of expertise in natural-language bet-processing, and points the way to how we envisage betting evolving in the future,” Power added.
Voxbet utilises both vocal and written communication technology to allow bettors to speak or type what they want from a sportsbook operator. It has existing partnerships with firms including PMU, Betsson Group, Paddy Power and William Hill.
The technology firm is aiming to rapidly expand its operations even further and added Google-style search engine technology to its interface in August.
Waxing lyrical about his new role, Lee suggested that this was an exciting time for the business, with its ambitious expansion plans.
“I believe Voxbet has one of the most applicable ideas in the market, in that it solves a genuine problem for sportsbooks and its customers as well as creating new opportunities for customer reach,” Lee said.
“There is no more timely story in our sector than this one,” he concluded.
