French digital revenues up 12% with growth across all verticals
Sports betting continues to dominate, jumping 22% to €111m, while horseracing returns to growth

French online gaming revenues climbed 12% year-on-year to €226m in Q2, according to new figures from the regulator ARJEL.
Sports betting made up nearly half of the total revenues, climbing 22% to €111m, despite the absence of major sporting events and the comparison with Euro 2016.
And ARJEL pointed out that excluding June, total amounts wagered grew by 28% compared to the same period last year.
Horseracing figures also ticked up after “four years of continuous decline”, with revenue climbing 5% to €58m.
ARJEL attributed the growth to increased recycling from existing customers and new customers attracted by new betting options introduced during the quarter.
Finally, poker also enjoyed a strong quarter with revenues climbing 3% to €57m on the strength of growing tournament revenues.
Cash game revenues ticked down slightly, but ARJEL predicted a positive impact from the shared liquidity pact it signed with Portugal, Spain and Italy earlier this month.
The regulator issued shared liquidity guidelines for operators to follow earlier this week, and said it aimed to implement shared pools “for the end of 2017”.
