GambleAware launches Cheltenham-themed ‘Bet Regret’ advert
Charity targets horseracing festival audiences with new advert

GambleAware has launched a special horseracing-themed ‘Bet Regret’ advert to coincide with the start of the Cheltenham Festival today.
The new 30-second TV spot, which will be aired today on ITV, depicts a bored office worker placing a bet while sitting on the toilet at work. He is then transported to a racecourse and is questioned by ITV racing presenters Oli Bell and Alice Plunkett.
The ad is the third Bet Regret spot by the charity, following two separate advertisements targeting football released in February. This latest commercial will premiere on ITV Racing at the same time as Cheltenham this afternoon.

The Bet Regret campaign aims to focus on “the universal feeling of remorse” punters can get when they make an impulsive bet.
According to recent research by GambleAware, horseracing is the second most frequent sport bet on, with one in five young, male sports bettors having bet on racing online in the past four weeks.
Marc Etches, CEO of GambleAware, has said the campaign aims to encourage people to think twice about these sorts of bets, before they make them.
“Cheltenham is one of the most popular betting occasions of the year, so we want to make sure people are aware of the risks linked to their betting habits,” Etches added.
